Law Students

The Rural Education and Access to Lawyers (REAL) Initiative is committed to increasing the awareness of law students about the many career opportunities that exist outside of the urban areas of British Columbia.

The benefits of the REAL initiative to law students include:

  • Mentoring and local legal training in High Needs Communities
  • Access to rural community life and local culture
  • Networking/potential future articles
  • Additional resources and support from CBABC

Suggestions for students:

Begin to reach out to firm in the communities that interest you, firms are more likely to be approved for funding if they apply with a student.

Begin to research housing early, the most difficult challenge for most students is finding short term housing for the summer.

Applications for the 2023 season are now open
