“Law related to the economically disadvantaged”

Former head of Legal Aid in Victoria, Forrest Nelson will chair a 2 CPD session “Some law that relates to the economically disadvantaged focusing on disability benefits”.

This offering is for lawyers whose practices sometimes touch on issues related to benefits provincially, under the Canada Pension Plan, Disabled Trusts and the federal Disability Tax Credit. It’s a ‘what to look for – what to be alive to” course for those who may from time to time brush the law in this area.

This year’s credits can be obtained as follows: 

  1. Login through the lawyer login on the homepage: https://www.lawsociety.bc.ca
  2. Click “Continuing Professional Development (CPD)” under the “Education” heading (skip notifications to get to this page).
  3. Click on the “Record Courses, Group Studies & Mentoring” tab
  4. Type the group study name of “Inns of Court – Victoria” into the “Course/Group Study” name box (leave dates out as this is set up with a date range).
  5. You can also enter “Inns of Court – Victoria” into the provider box although not necessary.
  6. Click “Search”, scroll down to view the results.
  7. Click on the correct record for 2017 when it appears.
  8. Enter the hours and date of attendance.
  9. Click “get credit”.
