Morishita said at the top of his mind is acting on the findings from last year’s national study on wellness in the legal profession, in which more than half of respondents reported experiencing psychological distress and burnout, with some reporting thoughts of suicide.

Negar Azmudeh, Assistant Deputy Chairperson at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada in Vancouver, is appointed a Judge of the Federal Court. Justice Azmudeh fills the remaining position authorized under the Budget Implementation Act, 2019.

J. Gareth Morley, Senior Counsel at the Ministry of the Attorney General of British Columbia in Victoria, is appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Victoria. Justice Morley replaces Justice J. Steeves (Victoria), who resigned effective June 11, 2022.
