CBABC delivered a submission to the British Columbia Law Institute responding to their Consultation Paper on AI and Civil Liability.

On October 19, the Ministry of Attorney General announced that the proposed legislation setting out the creation of a single legal regulator has been delayed to next spring to allow more time for external consultations, including with CBABC.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada has responded to a CBABC submission urging federal appointments of justices to the BC Supreme Court and to re-establish the Judicial Advisory Committee in British Columbia.

The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General has responded to a CBABC submission endorsing the expansion of Community Accountability Program guidelines.

Attorney General Niki Sharma, KC has responded to CBABC’s submission to government endorsing the Rise Women’s Legal Centre’s Creating Safety in BC Courts Report.

On August 14, CBABC delivered a submission to the Law Society of BC proposing additions to their resource, “Guidance for Lawyers on Using Inclusive Language”.

On August 3, CBABC delivered a letter to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, urging the federal government to appoint justices to fill the vacancies on the BC Supreme Court and to re-establish the Judicial Advisory Committee in British Columbia.

The submission encourages the BC government to develop a plan to implement their obligations under the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.
