Provincial Council members appointed to this committee will serve for a period of one or two years to provide for a staggered renewal of members. There will be 4-6 meetings during the year conducted via Zoom video/teleconference. Qualifications for this appointment include being a member of Provincial Council throughout the appointment term and having experience in and comfort with considering financial and risk management matters.
In fulfilling its mandate, the Finance and Audit Committee will perform the following key tasks:
- ensure sound accounting practices and internal controls and an adequate audit process are appropriately established and followed;
- review the annual budget and make recommendations to the Executive Committee;
- review and make recommendations to the Executive Committee with respect to various finance-related policies and guidelines, including the CBABC Financial Policy, the investment policy and guidelines, expenses guidelines, and processes and internal control framework for identification and management of risks;
- liaise with the CBABC’s auditors and oversee the annual audit process, including reviewing the audit report and making recommendations to the Executive Committee.
