There are currently two appointment vacancies on the Board of the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia effective September 1, 2019 for a Representative from the CBABC Provincial Council.
The Continuing Legal Education Society of BC presents courses and publishes materials to meet the unique educational requirements and practice needs of the legal profession of British Columbia. The mission of CLEBC is to inspire lifelong learning, to advance the legal knowledge and skills, and to strengthen the BC legal community.
The position requires time to devote to Board and Committee obligations. The Board meets five times a year on Fridays from noon to 4:30 pm. Remote video access is available for Board meetings. There is a one-day Board retreat in February. Committees meet as required. Most committees meet for approximately one hour, five times per year, often by conference call.
CLEBC values diversity, hopes its Board will include appointees who are recently called and enthusiastic about technology, and seeks the following skills within its Board as a whole
- expertise in a variety of practice areas, including both barristers and solicitors;
- administrative expertise;
- financial expertise;
- knowledge or experience in publishing; and
- experience or interest in technology in legal education
Given the importance to the Board of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report, we would particularly welcome the appointment of individuals who self-identify as Indigenous, First Nation, Inuit, or Métis.
