Call for Volunteers: CLEBC (Victoria County)

CBABC is seeking nominees from Victoria County to appoint to the Board of Directors of the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia for a term beginning early November 2021 and ending August 31, 2022.  CBABC members who wish to be considered should submit their letter of interest and resume to the attention of Kerry L. Simmons QC, Executive Director, at by 4pm on October 28, 2021. The Board of Directors will make the appointment on November 5.

CLEBC presents courses and publishes materials to meet the unique educational requirements and practice needs of the legal profession of British Columbia.  The mission of CLEBC is to inspire lifelong learning, to advance the legal knowledge and skills, and to strengthen the BC legal community.

The position requires time to devote to Board and Committee obligations.  The Board meets five times a year on Fridays from noon to 4:30 pm with remote video access available. There is a one-day Board retreat in February. Committees meet as required, usually for approximately one hour, five times per year, often by conference call.

To complement the existing characteristics and skill sets on the CLEBC Board, CLEBC seeks a Board member with some of the following characteristics/skills:

  • Solicitor’s practice
  • Finance background/experience
  • Identifies as Indigenous, or person of color
