Provincial Court of BC: NP 22: Resuming In-Person Proceedings During COVID-19

All persons attending courtrooms will be required to participate and cooperate to attain the recommended COVID-19 health and safety protocols. This includes practicing physical distancing, sanitizing hands upon entry of a courthouse or courtroom, and adhering to all other recommended health and safety protocols and directions.

New chair appointed for Mental Health Review Board

Following a merit-based recruitment process, Luningning Alcuitas-Imperial has been appointed chair of the Mental Health Review Board (MHRB), the independent tribunal established under the Mental Health Act.

In memoriam: Constance Isherwood, QC

The Victoria Bar Association is saddened to advise that Constance Isherwood, Q.C. has passed away. Having just turned 101 on January 19th, she was Canada's oldest practising lawyer. She remained active in our community after reaching 100, and was a guest speaker at the last in-person Victoria call ceremony last year.
