Appointment of Judges to the Provincial Court of British Columbia

It is my great pleasure and privilege to announce that the Lieutenant Governor in Council has signed Orders in Council appointing three new provincial court judges to the Provincial Courtand re-appointing three senior provincial court judges.

The new appointments are Wendy Bernt, Tamera Golinsky and Oliver Fleck.

Judge Bernt – will be sworn in on August 10, 2020. She will be assigned to the Northern Region with Chambers in Smithers, replacing Judge Doulis who is relocating to Prince George.

Judge Bernt has practiced law in B.C. since February 1999. She has practiced exclusively in the area of child protection for the last fifteen years, and recently began representing the government on child protection matters.

Judge Golinsky – will be sworn in on August 10, 2020. She will be assigned to the Northern Region with Chambers in Dawson Creek.

Judge Golinsky has held the position of Crown counsel in Dawson Creek for 15 years. Before this, she worked in two private law firms primarily practisingfamily and insurance law.

Judge Fleck – will be sworn in on August 10, 2020. He will be assigned to the Northern Region with Chambers in Fort St. John.

Judge Fleck was Crown counsel and held this position since 2012. He spent most of his career as counsel for the Federal government working in the area of international trade agreements and disputes.

The three senior judges being re-appointed for a term of one year effective on proclamation:

Judge Jane Cartwright
Judge Thomas Gove
Judge Richard Miller
