There is currently one CBA appointment vacancy on the Board of the Association des juristes d’expression française de la Colombie-Britannique (AJEFCB). The appointment is for a two-year term. The representative will succeed Emily MacKinnon, who has greatly contributed to the work of the Foundation.
The AJEFCB's mission is to promote access to justice in British Columbia. This mission can take many forms but mainly consists, at the present time, of providing legal information in French to Francophones in British Columbia and of supporting lawyers who are able to offer services in French.
There is an association of French-speaking jurists in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and, of course, British Columbia. The AJEFCB is a member of the Federation of Associations of French-Speaking Common Law Jurists (FAJEFCL).
The ideal candidate is fluently bilingual in both English and French (oral and written) and is responsible for reporting annually to the Branch in respect of the duties carried out.
CBABC members who wish to be considered for this volunteer opportunity, please submit your letter of interest, and resume to the attention of Kerry L. Simmons KC, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, CBABC. Email: email@example.com. Deadline 5pm, March 14, 2024.
