CBABC President puts diversity and authenticity first

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch today announced Lee Nevens (they/them) as president for the 2024-25 term. A long-time advocate for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Nevens is the first transgender lawyer elected as CBABC President and first non-binary Branch President in all of the Canadian Bar Association.

Northern B.C. lawyer receives top honour for commitment to Indigenous justice

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch honoured Linda D. Locke, KC, a Hazelton-based lawyer, with the prestigious Georges A. Goyer, QC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service. This accolade, the most esteemed recognition granted by the Branch, was presented during the 38th annual Vancouver Bench & Bar Dinner.

Statement from CBABC President on courtroom safety

CBABC is concerned about the recent reporting of a person carrying a firearm into a BC courtroom. In addition, two lawyers defending an accused in a high-profile murder case received threats of violence. These reports should be deeply troubling to all British Columbians.
