Government perpetuates “status quo” crisis in the justice system

The Canadian Bar Association, British Columbia (CBABC), responding to the provincial budget released today, expressed disappointment that the Government decided to maintain “status quo” levels in the justice system and overlook public demand to restore funding to legal aid as an essential service.

James Bond, President of the British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association, congratulated Attorney General Michael de Jong, QC on his decision to eliminate the $6 fee for online searches of criminal and traffic court records, effective August 31, 2010.
