Amended: Motor Vehicle Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 318
Summary: Bill 20 amends the Motor Vehicle Act, including to:
- Permit regulations as specified to be made to regulate use of the decal on BC licence plates, including that validation decals or prescribed documents may be issued instead of number plates and that prescribed actions may be taken instead of issuing number plates;
- Provide that number plates and validation decals remain the property of the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC);
- Create a process that an owner or licensee must follow when applying for a refund of an insurance premium or licence fee;
- Create a process for ICBC to follow in the event of loss, mutilation or destruction of a validation decal.
