Kevin Simonett Law Corporation - Campbell River
Kevin Simonett Law Corporation (“KSLC”) is a mom-and-pop law firm located downtown Campbell River on Vancouver Island. We are a full-service law firm; we do not practice litigious family matters though. KSLC has numerous clients in land development, landlords, construction, civil works plus resource industries such as fishing, logging and mining. KSLC also has an active litigation department. We service the needs of our clients, be it corporate restructuring, generational transfer of business interests and assets, estates, and litigation.
Our ideal candidate would have an interest in ‘dirt law’ that provides opportunity for creativity and hard work. An articling student must be able to thrive in the space between the legal assistants and the senior lawyers. We would expect the successful candidate to handle their own files and be the primary contact with the client, on a mix of fresh files and some older files that require energy. KSLC provides a great opportunity to learn about many different areas of law and law firm management. We are looking towards the future and have concrete expansion plans; a successful summer articling period would likely lead to an articling position offer.
The office is open from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday, with a one hour lunch break. The summer articling period renumeration is set at $4,000.00 per month, subject to statutory taxes etc. It is very rare to work outside these hours, except during a trial.
Campbell River is a regional hub that services a large area including the remote central coast and west coast of Vancouver Island. There are many recreational opportunities locally and regionally that are not over burdened by a high population. KSLC is very boat oriented and a love of the ocean will be rewarded! Campbell River is a bit more quiet during the pandemic than usual and some restaurants are struggling to survive. That said, the outdoor scene is unbeatable and that is the best way to keep your spirits up during these challenging times.
Finding a place to rent can be a challenge, but many of our clients have opportunities that we could assist with for the successful candidate.
Our website is a bit out of date, but please do not hesitate to reach out to Kevin directly at: firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone (250) 914-0458, if you have any questions or concerns.
