Each year, the provincial government holds public consultations through a Standing Committee which provides recommendations to the government on the upcoming budget. Key areas from the Agenda for Justice 2021 were highlighted in the CBABC presentation.
CBABC’s presentation included recommendations to provide additional funding in the following areas:
- Increase spending for legal aid services to increase the scope of representation in family law matters;
- Continue to allocate funding towards modernizing the court and justice system; and
- Implementation of section 3 of the Declaration of Rights on Indigenous Peoples Act.
CBABC was invited to present on September 2, 2021, with a detailed written submission to follow on September 30, 2021.
