Guest Speaker: Sally Campbell, Mediator & Conflict Resolution Educator
Meeting Title/Topic: Circle Process for Mediators
Synopsis: "Circle Process for Mediators”, something I've been using in workplace and family (estate, not separation/divorce) mediations where relationship is ongoing and important. Julie Daum and I taught a 3 day CLE on it here on Hornby in April and it was well-received. I will offer some sense of what I’ve been doing and ideas to incorporate aspects of Circle into mediations. The Circle Process is at the other end of the spectrum from Med-Arb. - Sally Campbell

Thursday, April 26, 2018
Guest Speaker: Gordon White, B.Sc., M.B.A., Gordon White Consulting
Meeting Title/Topic: The Conflict Journey- Differences: A Way to Understand Conflict
Synopsis: Most mediation methods seek compatibility, including both interest based and narrative practices. Counter to common mediator practices, you can support and hold the parties in their differences. If you can support the parties to stay in their conflict without escalating interaction, transformative potential is accessible. The creative and innovative potential of the conflict becomes available. Gordon White informed the section about the concept and how to apply it.

Meeting Title/Topic: Why Mediators Should Sing in the Shower
Synopsis: C.D. Saint, a classical singer and mediator, explored the connections between mediating and singing on how your brain functions. C.D. took participants through fun, engaging exercises and explored why these connections are ones mediators should reinforce. The section expanded the conversation outwards to other activities mediators do to prepare themselves for mediation.
