The Section met 10 times between September and June, including meeting for a holiday reception in the offices of Russell & DuMoulin. The Section meetings combined interesting topics with excellent speakers—the Hon. Dale Lovick, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, and the Hon. Robert D. Nault, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs both spoke at separate meetings.

Topics covered during the year varied from the general “Modern Day Treaty-Making” to the very specific “The decision by the BC Court of Appeal in Halfway River First Nation v. BC”. Some of the topics looked at included “Land Management on the Musqueam First Nation Reserve”, “Consultations with First Nations: Building Bridges Across Intensely Held Values”, and “Eyes Wide Shut: What Do You Do After the Settlement Monies Arrive?”. A joint meeting with the Municipal Law Section looked at “Provision of Municipal Services to First Nations”.
