Bios
Raji Mangat has had a wide-ranging legal career, taking her from the Supreme Court of Canada to corporate law on Wall Street; from litigating war crimes cases at The Hague to securing constitutional rights and freedoms closer to home. She was recently recognized as the 2019 recipient of the Law Society of British Columbia’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award.
Taruna Agrawal is the Family Advocate Support Line lawyer at Rise. This is a telephone support line designed to help family advocates, front-line workers, and support workers (collectively, Support Workers) in BC. Taruna provides legal advice about family law and, at times, other family law adjacent areas. Her role also involves providing training to Support Workers and tailoring presentations to their unique needs. Before Rise, Taruna was a practitioner in the areas of family and immigration law. She has also been a supervising lawyer and an advocate at non-profit organizations. She is a subject editor on Clicklaw Wikibooks for the chapter entitled “Immigrants and Family Law.” Taruna is passionate about access to justice and works daily to ensure that people, especially women leaving abusive relationships, have access to affordable counsel.
