This session provides an overview of Section 8 (split parenting time) and Section 9 (shared parenting time) of the Federal Child Support Guidelines.
This session contains a review of the legislative provisions of Sections 8 and 9 and a summary of case law in British Columbia.
The majority of the case law analysis and discussion focuses on how courts have interpreted, summarized and applied Contino vs. Contino-Leonelli. This presentation also covers the "40% threshold” for parenting time under Section 9 and consideration of a new partner’s income in the Contino analysis.
Duration of meeting was 1 hour. Of this, 1.0 hour can be counted towards CPD.
