July 12, 2007 - Member Social and Elections
In December 2006, the Section Executive surveyed its members on topics of interest, venue and timing of meetings, and other aspects of Section business. The survey responses provided the Executive with valuable feedback and direction for future Section events.

Another initiative in 2006-2007 was that the Vancouver and Vancouver Island Aboriginal Law Sections Chairs coordinated access to each Section’s meetings as a means to increase programming to members in both locales. Notices of events in both Vancouver and Victoria were sent to members of both Sections this year; teleconferencing was arranged for interested members in each city.

The 2007-2008 Executive of the CBABC Aboriginal (Vancouver) Section is as follows:

  • Roy Millen (Blakes) – Co-Chair
  • Jennifer Spencer (Blakes) – Co-Chair
  • Roseanne Kyle (Miller Thomson)– Secretary / Membership
  • Joanna Mullard (BC Hydro) – Treasurer
  • Brett Marleau (Department of Justice) – Legislative Liaison
  • Kevin O’Callaghan (Faskens) – Member at Large
  • Merrill Shepard (Donovan & Company) – Member at Large
  • Marvin Stark, QC – Member at Large
  • Kevin Contzen (BC Hydro) – Member at Large
  • Jeff Schnuerer (McDonald & Company) – Member at Large

The Section provides an opportunity for members of the aboriginal bar from all perspectives to learn from each other and guests, and exchange views on matters relevant to practice in the area.

For the upcoming 2007-2008 year, members are invited to suggest topics for future meetings to any member of the Executive.

Roy Millen, Co-Chair
Jennifer Spencer, Co-Chair
