This Notice provides information for anyone who will appear before the Provincial Court for a remote proceeding beginning May 7, 2020 until further notice. In this Notice, the term “remote proceeding” means a hearing or case conference conducted by audioconference (including telephone or Microsoft Teams) or videoconference (including Microsoft Teams).

Provincial Court of BC: NP 23 Circuit Court Sittings During COVID-19

Purpose: The BC Provincial Court sits in many court locations in the province. Currently, we are working with government and in some cases, local communities, to have the consultant that government has retained view the circuit courts and make recommendations about what steps need to be taken to make those courts safe and accessible to members of the public.

Abbotsford Law Courts Opening

A new location of the Supreme Court of British Columbia is opening in Abbotsford. The courthouse is expected to open to the public on January 18, 2021. Effective February 1, 2021 the Court will begin hearing trials in Abbotsford. As per most Supreme Court locations, matters in Abbotsford will be scheduled according to the assize system.

CBABC Recognizes Outstanding Contributions to the Legal Community

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch (CBABC) has once again honoured both outstanding BC lawyers and an innovative organization, all of whom have contributed to the profession and community. CBABC President Ken Armstrong presented three special recognition awards to Simon Coval, QC, Tina Parbhakar and the BC Prosecution Service on Saturday, September 26 at the virtual CBABC Provincial Council meeting.
