The CBABC Aboriginal Lawyers Forum recognizes the extraordinary recipients of this year’s ALF Special Contribution Award: Myrna McCallum and Douglas S. White III, KC. As part of the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch, the Aboriginal Lawyers Forum (ALF) facilitates social networking and mentoring for Indigenous lawyers and law students in BC.

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch has submitted recommendations to the Ministry of Attorney General, in response to its Intentions Paper released in September 2022.  

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch announces Aleem Bharmal, QC, as President for the 2022-23 term. Aleem steps into this position of leadership during a time marked by transformation and modernization, both within the legal profession and justice system. 

On Friday, Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch President Clare Jennings visited Hazelton to deliver laptops to the Upper Skeena Counselling & Legal Assistance Society, collected from CBABC’s Access to Justice (A2J) Tech Drive.

CBABC congratulates Kamloops lawyer, Robert McDiarmid, QC, as the 2022 recipient of the Georges A. Goyer QC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service. The award was presented on June 16 at the Vancouver Bench & Bar Dinner.

The Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch honoured several outstanding BC lawyers in 2022, all of whom have contributed to the cause of justice. This year’s deep pool of nominations led to a record number of six award recipients.

The Canadian Bar Association BC Branch is proud to join Access Pro Bono’s Everyone Legal Clinic as a Founding Service Partner, in a move to support alternative paths to traditional articling. In addition to a financial contribution, CBABC will provide free membership to the articling students and CBABC exclusive training content.
