Summary: The Canadian Judicial Protocol for the Management of Multi-jurisdictional Class Actions and the Provision of Class Action Notice (“2018 Judicial Protocol”) was developed by the CBA Task Force on Class Actions to reflect recommended best practices for the management of multi-jurisdictional class actions.
The Supreme Court of British Columbia has adopted the 2018 Judicial Protocol, and this Practice Direction directs counsel and parties to comply with it in class action proceedings commenced on or after July 1, 2019.
Direction:
- Parties to class action proceedings commenced on or after July 1, 2019 must follow the procedures set out in the 2018 Judicial Protocol.
- This Practice Direction should be read together with Practice Direction 4 and Practice Direction 5.
